On the left is the main approach to the Hatimangu Shrine, one of the largest in Kamakura. It is devoted to "Hatiman", a god of war, and was established by Minamoto Yoriyoshi, the man that later ruled Japan from Kamakura during the Kamkura Era. Right is a performance stage in front of the main staircase leading to the shrine.

Every September Hatimangu holds a large festival, that among other things, has a traditional dancing display and a Yabusame - or archery on horseback - demonstration.
