On the left is the main approach to the Hatimangu Shrine, one of
the largest in Kamakura. It is devoted to "Hatiman", a god
of war, and was established by Minamoto Yoriyoshi, the
man that later ruled Japan from Kamakura during the
Kamkura Era.
Right is a performance stage in front of the main staircase leading to the shrine.
Special!
Every September Hatimangu holds a large festival, that among other things, has
a traditional dancing display and a Yabusame - or archery on horseback - demonstration.
