This is the massive Heian Shrine that was built in 1895 to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the founding of Kyoto. This picture does not even encompass the entirety of the shrine - it is symmetrical and the buildings on the left are mirrored on the right and despite it's current size, it was built to 2/3rds the scale of the original.
