"Science is a wonderful thing... no other school of thought has had such
a profound effect on our cilivization. It has brought us vast amounts of knowledge and allowed us to gain control over many
aspects of our daily lives.
"However, science is a tool and only a tool. People tend to forget that. Science is only
moderately more objective than other conceptions of the natural world. There are other forms of knowledge and other methods
of obtaining it. Science does not now hold all the answers to the universe and the facts upon which much knowledge is based
may or may not hold true tomorrow. In it's basic stucture, science, acknowledges this - indeed it's entire premise of hypothesis
and experimentation is a reflection of that. But we often forget that and arrogantly presume to be more knowledgeable of the
world than we are.
"Keeping this in mind, remember that a great deal more is possible than we are often willing
to accept. There are whole realms of experience that are not efficiently dealt with by the scientific method. We must beware
not to close ourselves to those realms simply because we have not chosen a tool appropriate to the task.
"Science has a place, as do other no less rigourous systems. The wise have more than one
tool in their repetoire."
